Sneywood, 9 Avon Grove, Bristol
This house is at the top of the cliff overlooking the Avon Gorge and further to Leigh Woods and Somerset. The view is spectacular. The house was substantial, but the interior and layout were tired and dated. The wing on the right is completely new. The interior of the house was rearranged and remodelled with new reception rooms in the ground floor of the extension, a master bedroom with a balcony overlooking the Gorge at first floor level and further bedrooms in the roof slopes at second floor level.
The bricks were carefully selected to exactly match the colour, the size and the bond of the existing walls. The roof tiles were new natural clay plain tiles which weather to match the existing roof. The windows have metal casements and are fitted into American Oak frames.
